SCHOOL HISTORY
Ruhuwiko Secondary School was established in 1979. The school began as HUDUMA JWTZ Centre, primarily serving as an examination centre aimed at educating military personnel who had completed secondary school.
The initiative was part of the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (JWTZ) efforts to enhance the educational qualifications of its members. Initially, the school operated on the premises of Huduma Primary School. However, following a directive from the President, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, the primary school was relocated to accommodate younger students and the secondary school was moved to a new location. The 411 KJ military unit oversaw the construction of new facilities for the secondary school, which started with basic structures.
As the goal of providing secondary education to military personnel was largely achieved, JWTZ decided to continue operating the school to serve both military families and civilians.
In 1995, the school was officially registered by the Ministry of Education and Culture as RUHUWIKO SECONDARY SCHOOL, transforming from its previous designation as HUDUMA JWTZ Centre. The school received registration number S.576 and was also registered with the National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA) under number S0151. The registration was sponsored by the Nyumbu Project in Kibaha, adhering to the educational regulations of the time.
Over the years, Ruhuwiko Secondary School has demonstrated consistent academic performance and has been recognized among schools in Tanzania showing progressive performance over time.
